Part of Hender Scheme’s Manual Industrial Products line, the MIP-01 reinterprets a familiar sneaker silhouette through traditional leather craftsmanship. The model recreates the form of the Nike Air Force 1 using vegetable-tanned leather and hand construction techniques rather than modern synthetic materials and industrial manufacturing.
By stripping away branding and color, the design emphasizes the underlying structure of the original sneaker while allowing the natural leather to age and develop patina over time. The project explores the contrast between mass-produced athletic footwear and slower, craft-based production methods.
